Focus means to direct your attention or effort at something specific. It helps concentrate and bring all your attention to a point. Also, focus means channeling your energy and resources in one direction to achieve a specific objective. Without focus, you will achieve little. You cannot maximize yourself if you are into different things.
To clarify this, I do not mean you can't be effective in different areas. Focus gives you direction, and helps you channel your energy towards the right direction in the things you do. Lack of focus can lead to time consuming and a waste of life. Someone who lacks focus spends more time on things that do not matter, and less time on things that matter. This is misplacement of priority, and it happens when there is lack of focus.
Women are generally always distracted by many things, but it takes a woman who has learnt and mastered the power of focus to be able to concentrate fully and scale through. Focus is powerful, so much that, if properly utilized, can empower you to make progress. Focus magnifies your vision, and makes it possible. When you feed your focus and starve your fear, you see properly.
The enemy even wants to scatter your energy and resources so that the quality of impact or focus is reduced. However, the power of focus conditions you for impact. If you want to improve your focus, you need to develop the skill of paying attention to a particular thought, task, or goal for a specified amount of time without allowing distractions to break your concentration.
The world is filled with distractions, and there are tendencies to become distracted and focus on things that have nothing to offer our lives. In a way to deal with distractions, the Bible says, "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2 NKJV). We can make an analogy that whatever you want to achieve or become is above you, and the things on earth are the things you don't want.
When Apostle Peter was focused on Jesus, he walked on water, but the moment he shifted his gaze to behold the storms, he began to sink. Truth is, the storms will always be there. In fact, there is little we can do about it being there. Our power is limited to how we react to situations like that. One way to handle storms is to treat it as if it is not there. When you are focused, you will make progress despite the storms.
If you are focused in life, failure will be minimal. Failure is often a product of distractions. When you are focused, you will not have time for the things that are of lesser priority to your goals. It keeps you going even when the road is tough. Even when the road is easy, focus keeps you active and going. Your effectiveness will increase when you improve on your focus.
Whatever you focus on is what you would ultimately become. When you focus on who you want to be, and not who you afraid of becoming, you will evolve into the right picture. Our lives move in the direction of our focus. Do not stop taking full responsibility for what you focus on, by aligning your focus to what you truly want. Whatever you want to achieve is at the mercy of your focus.
